They have not been evaluated by the [FDA, MHRA,] or any regulatory body. Never disregard professional advice, delay seeking it, or stop or change any prescribed treatment or medication because of something in our content. 5. Breathwork safety
Breathing techniques - including extended exhales, double inhales, and any breath pacing or retention - can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, tingling, changes in vision, muscle tension or spasm, and in some cases fainting or loss of consciousness. To practise safely:Only ever practise seated or lying down, somewhere safe.
Never practise while driving, operating machinery, standing, in a bath, swimming pool, or in or near water of any kind. Loss of consciousness in water can be fatal.
Stop immediately and return to normal breathing if you feel dizzy, faint, breathless, anxious, or unwell in any way.
Do not push, strain, or force the breath. Comfort first, always.6. Relaxation, deep rest, and altered states
Some practices guide deep relaxation, inward attention, and shifts in your sense of body and self. For most people this is restful. For some - particularly those with a history of trauma, dissociation, depersonalisation, psychosis, or severe anxiety - deep relaxation or altered states can surface difficult emotions or feel destabilising. If that applies to you, speak to a qualified professional before practising, and stop and reorient yourself if you feel distressed, detached, or overwhelmed at any point.
7. Movement and physical activity
Practices involving walking, jogging, or other movement carry the normal risks of physical activity. Consult your doctor before starting any new physical activity. Work within your own limits, stop if you feel pain or unwell, and do not undertake movement that is unsafe for your circumstances or environment.
